World Cerebral Palsy Day

Celebrated on October 6 every year - is a global movement that started eleven years ago in 2012.

We in Harrow Libdems are fully aware of these aims. And support them. 

In 2022, the message reached over 10 million people. It brings together people living with cerebral palsy, their families, supporters and organisations from over 100 countries. All this is to ensure a future in which children and adults with cerebral palsy have the same rights, access and opportunities as anyone else in our society. 

Again Harrow Libdems share this wish, sending our very best wishes to those who have this disability and we wish to join everyone in celebrating the achievements of those who are afflicted by this and their families.

There are more than 17 million people across the world living with cerebral palsy. Another 350 million people are closely connected to a child or adult with cerebral palsy.

Cerebral palsy is a physical disability that affects movement and posture. Many people with cerebral palsy have other related vision, hearing, communication and mobility needs. Its impact can range from a weakness in one hand, to almost a complete lack of voluntary movement.

It is a complex disability:

• 1 in 4 children with cerebral palsy cannot talk 

• 1 in 4 cannot walk 

• 1 in 2 have an intellectual disability 

• 1 in 4 have epilepsy. 

Harrow Libdems stand totally behind this. But not just for one day. We back this movement for fairness and equality now and forever – or at least until a solution can be found.
