In 1986, the SDP-Liberal Alliance took control of Sutton Council, marking one of the key national breakthroughs at local government for the movement that would become the Liberal Democrats.

Forty years later, the Liberal Democrats have not just retained control of the council, but won a historic number of councillors in May 2026. Sutton remains the longest-held Council for the Liberal Democrats anywhere in the country.

Mile End Litter Pick! 🧤🗑️

Join us for a community litter pick around Mile End on Saturday 26th September, 1.30pm–3pm. Meet at Chesterwell Co-op, Chesterwell Mews.

All equipment provided - just bring yourself, weather-appropriate clothing and a bit of energy! All welcome, no experience needed.

Afterwards, we'll be heading to Esquires Coffee in Chesterwell for a well-earned coffee and a chat. Come along and help keep Mile End looking great!

Cllr Ben Proctor holds surgeries every other month so that local residents can talk to him about local issues over a cup of coffee. You do not need a ticket and can just turn up. But please do get a ticket if it will help to remind you when the surgery is being held.

Bringing together members, supporters, councillors, campaigners and guests from across the region, the conference will be an opportunity to share ideas, develop our campaigning skills and hear from leading Liberal Democrat voices.

With Local Government Reorganisation approaching across parts of the West Midlands, the programme will have a particular focus on how Liberal Democrats can shape the future of local government, protect local services and provide strong community leadership.

The day will include:

• keynote speeches and panel discussions;
• campaigning and skills training;
• policy discussion and opportunities to contribute;
• fringe meetings and workshops;
• exhibition stalls from Liberal Democrat organisations; and
• time to meet and network with Liberal Democrats from across the region.

Further speakers and programme details will be announced as they are confirmed.

Standard, concessionary and Young Liberal tickets are available. Admission covers the full daytime conference programme.

An optional cold buffet lunch can be added during checkout for £8. Please provide details of any dietary requirements when booking. Delegates are also welcome to make their own lunch arrangements.

The venue has free parking and is close to the A44. Pershore railway station, on the London Paddington line, is approximately five minutes away by car.
