Join us for a special event marking the launch of Vince Cable’s new book, Eclipsing the West: China, India and the forging of a new world. Sir Vince will be talking about the book, taking questions and signing copies which will be available to purchase on the day.

Date and time- 6th December 2025, 11.45 to 2pm. Talk will commence at 12 noon, followed by a buffet lunch and book signing.

We have been going to Statham Lodge for our Christmas Lunch for about twenty years. All members and supporters are welcome and it would be lovely if you could attend. We look forward to seeing you.

The Wokingham Liberal Democrat Christmas Party.

This is an important part of our fundraising for next year’s City Council elections, as well as a fun evening with like minded people.
For the first time in years, we have a very real chance to gain majority control of Portsmouth City Council, so this is an important event for us. Do try and come. 
We are glad to welcome Danny Chambers MP to our dinner. Danny is the Lib Dem MP for Winchester. He has been very successful in his work in Parliament in getting legislation to help stop the exploitation of puppies and, also,getting military families extra support to make sure military homes are a decent standard.

This year's  "Red Lion Tendency" Christmas Celebration is on Sunday 14th December 2025 at lunch time (12:30 onwards) at the Red Lion, 10 North Road, Bromley BR1 3LG.

For those that don't know the 'Red Lion Tendency' is the name given to a group of Lib Dem members who used to do regular deliveries on Sunday mornings and meet at the pub afterwards. They don't do the deliveries on Sunday mornings any more but meet once a year to say hello to old and new members: all are welcome.

We are delighted to announce that the Haringey Lib Dems annual Christmas Mince Pies and Mulled Wine will take place on Sunday, 14 December 2025, from 2:00pm-4.30pm.

A chance to look back on the busy year we had with the 2026 Local Council selections and look forward to the campaign leading to May next year as you relax and chat with and meet other Lib Dems before Christmas.

Join our online panel to consider the impact that the recent publication of the Government’s Curriculum and Assessment Review and the ground-breaking Supreme Court ruling in Northern Ireland could have on the role of religion in the UK education system. Our guests will explore the implications for RE content, inclusive assemblies and the place for humanism and non-religious world views. We’ll discuss the practical implications for schools, teacher training, legal precedents, and what reform could mean for social cohesion, understanding, and inclusive education.

Panellists

Caroline Voaden is Member of Parliament for South Devon and Schools Spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats. She is the former CEO of Devon Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse services and served as a member of the European Parliament from 2019 to 2020, during which she was the last leader of the Liberal Democrat party in Europe. Prior to this, Caroline worked as a journalist for Reuters, before becoming a freelance editor and a business-owner in Totnes.
 
Lewis Young is Humanists UK's Education Campaigns Manager, and has been in the role since January 2024. His work covers Humanists UK's campaign work on faith in education - whether state-funded, private, or illegal schools, collective worship, RE. Prior to taking on this role Lewis was Communications and Campaigns Manager for a Member of Parliament. He is also a local councillor in Middlesbrough.

Callum Robertson is a teacher, lecturer and policy expert who works with key stakeholders, including the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT), Harris Federation, Future Academies and the Education Policy Institute. He is also the author of a book (Education Policy: a commentary on contemporary education issues) and has two more books in the pipeline. His latest work is focused on curriculum design within PHSE where he leads the training for the NIoT and Future Teacher Training.
