Southwark Liberal Democrats 2026 Campaign Launch & Annual Dinner

Join us for the Southwark Liberal Democrats’ Campaign Launch and Annual Dinner, where we will formally kick off our biggest local election campaign in years.

The evening will feature Daisy Cooper MP, Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats, and is a great opportunity to come together, enjoy good food and conversation, and launch our campaign to win in Southwark.

Join us for an engaging discussion as Angus shares his journey from UK Entrepreneur of the Year (2017) to local councillor and, most recently, Member of Parliament. He will reflect on how, against the odds, he defeated the SNP in the newly created constituency of Inverness, Skye and West Ross-shire.

Alongside his political career, Angus has built and led five successful companies and is an accomplished author with four published novels. He has been awarded both an OBE and a Papal knighthood in recognition of his charitable work.

Drawing on his experience campaigning across the Highlands and winning a historic parliamentary victory, Angus will share insights into leadership, resilience, and how these lessons can help strengthen our campaign ahead of May 2026.

Mark was foreign correspondent for the Financial Times and went on to broadcasting at ITN covering the miners' strike, business and politics and became a presenter of the ITV Morning News. He was also chief spin doctor for the Lib Dems under Ming Campbell.

Liberal Drinks

A regular meet-up on the second Wednesday of every month for Liberal Democrat members, supporters and the Lib Dem curious in the Folkestone and Hythe area!

Simply come along for a social drink and a chat: no speeches, no leaflet delivery. It's a "buy your own" event (sorry!) but come along and say hello to our Councillors, campaigners, members and friends.

The Royal Norfolk Hotel is on Sandgate High Street - there is free parking from 6pm at Castle Road Car Park in Sandgate which is one minute walk away and often on street parking in Castle Road (behind the hotel) as well.

Manchester Lib Dems Spring Hot Buffet Dinner

Tickets are now available for our 8th April hot buffet meal with Sir Ed Davey MP as our special guest speaker. Please come along and enjoy with us an evening, of good food, socialising and latest news in politics.

We are looking to raise funds for campaigning for the May elections where we hope to expand our Group on the Council.

The venue is Denton Golf Club where we are returning after popular success of our dinners there last year. There is full disabled access with a lift and all facilities are on the same floor.

The cost is £55 with a £5 discount for purchases before 18th March (£50). For booking a table of 10 as a block a further £5 per person discount is available, please contact pjones@mcrlibdems.uk to arrange payment directly.

What are the key external threats facing UK security today and how are European countries working together on defence issues?  To what extent is NATO still relevant? And what is Liberal Democrat policy in relation to all of this?
