David Laws, former MP and Cabinet Minister, will talk about his book ‘Serpents, Goats and Turkeys’ – the definitive insider history of the often turbulent political relationship between Liberals and Labour. He will also be signing copies which will be available on the night. The venue is a lovely meeting space on a regenerative, organic farm in the North Cotswolds.

Tim Farron was first elected as the Liberal Democrat MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale in 2005, ending 95 years of Conservative representation and establishing it as the party’s longest continuously held seat in England. Since then, he has built a reputation as a dedicated and hard-working constituency MP—securing chemotherapy services for Westmorland General Hospital, helping protect rural GP surgeries, and even organising a free heritage train service on the Lakes Line. He currently speaks for the Liberal Democrats on Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in the House of Commons.

Enjoy a warm welcome, great company, and an inspiring talk, alongside a delicious three-course meal.

Action Day canvassing Chells & Manor Wards

We'll be canvassing in two Stevenage wards which we have held for some time. We be joined by our two amazing candidates who are committed to repelling the onslaught by Reform here in Stevenage.

We'll meet in the Mobbsbury Way Car Park Stevenage SG2 0HL between Tesco Express and the Church. If this car park is full there are others round the corner in Chells Way and at the rear of the shopping centre.

Please be prompt as we want to brief you all and set you off as quickly as possible.

We'll stop for lunch between 1pm and 2pm. You're welcome to join us for lunch in Chells Cafe in the Shopping Centre (note: the cafe only accepts cash, but there are cash machines nearby). There is also a Tesco Express and other shops nearby where you can purchase food.

We're happy to accommodate observers or novices. Just tell us when you arrive and we'll partner you up with someone more experienced.

An Evening with Tom Gordon MP: Reflections from Ukraine

In February, Tom Gordon MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough travelled to Ukraine as part of a cross-party delegation of Members of Parliament. During the visit, he met with local government representatives and military leaders, gaining first-hand insight into the ongoing realities faced by communities across the country. The delegation also attended a commemorative service in Kyiv marking the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion.

This special evening event offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from Tom about his experiences on the ground, the conversations he had with Ukrainian leaders, and the resilience he witnessed throughout his visit. He will share personal reflections and provide context on the current situation, followed by an open Q&A session where attendees are invited to ask questions and engage in discussion.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Harrogate District of Sanctuary, supporting their work to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for people seeking sanctuary.

UK and European Security in a Turbulent World: Challenges and Alliances

What are the key external threats facing UK security today and how are European countries working together on defence issues?  To what extent is NATO still relevant? And what is Liberal Democrat policy in relation to all of this?
