Serpents, Goats and Turkeys – an evening with David Laws

Join us for the first social and political event of the new North Cotswolds Liberal Democrats party.

 

David Laws, former MP and Cabinet Minister, will talk about his book ‘Serpents, Goats and Turkeys’ – the definitive insider history of the often turbulent political relationship between Liberals and Labour. He will also be signing copies which will be available on the night. The venue is a lovely meeting space on a regenerative, organic farm in the North Cotswolds.

Join us for a relaxed Young Lib Dem Social Meet & Greet, hosted by the Bridgwater, Burnham & West Somerset Lib Dems.

This is a great opportunity to meet other young members and supporters, have a chat about local and national issues, and get to know like-minded people in an informal setting.

We’ll be gathering at The Cornhill, Bridgwater, where a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available to purchase, along with snacks.

Please bring some pocket money if you’d like to buy refreshments during the evening.

Whether you’re already involved or just curious to learn more, you’ll be very welcome.

Rochdale Liberal Democrats Dinner with Tim Farron MP

Join us for an engaging and enjoyable evening at the Rochdale Masonic Hall for a special Liberal Democrat Dinner, featuring guest speaker Tim Farron MP.

Tim Farron was first elected as the Liberal Democrat MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale in 2005, ending 95 years of Conservative representation and establishing it as the party’s longest continuously held seat in England. Since then, he has built a reputation as a dedicated and hard-working constituency MP—securing chemotherapy services for Westmorland General Hospital, helping protect rural GP surgeries, and even organising a free heritage train service on the Lakes Line. He currently speaks for the Liberal Democrats on Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in the House of Commons, and recently did an excellent job explaining the Sewage Crisis: See Tim's explanation here!

Enjoy a warm welcome, great company, and an inspiring talk, alongside a delicious three-course meal.

Menu for the Evening:

  •  Tomato and red pepper soup served with a roll or Pate.
  •  Roast chicken (halal) with roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, and vegetables
     or mushroom wellington (vegetarian option) 
  •  Sticky toffee pudding with custard or Fruit salad with ice cream.

Our Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Calum Miller MP will be joining out local leaders to share his  insights into world events, the future of the United Kingdom and the party's role in both.   An auction and raffle, with a host of exciting items to be won, will follow to round out the evening's programme.

Your ticket includes a welcome drink, a delicious three-course meal, wine or sparkling water with dinner, tea or coffee, and our full programme of entertainment.

We will be in the Alfred Ellis Hall at Amersham Free Church on Woodside Road in Amersham on the Hill, HP6 6AJ at 7pm to 9 pm on Thursday 28 May. There is a car park at the church and a larger Bucks Council car park (free from 7 pm) just 3 minutes walk away on Rickmansworth Road.

There will be tea, coffee and a bar available, along with “nibbles”, by way of refreshments. Please book a free place /places by 11 May to let us know you will be coming, so that we can plan catering accordingly

A Summer Celebration

Join us for our annual gathering at Braunston Marina. Meet with our local councillors and campaigners. We also have a special guest speaker with Callum Miller, Lib Dem MP for Bicester & Woodstock - and foreign affairs spokesperson.

The event is being held at Braunston Marina on the eve of their annual historic boat rally weekend.

The Marina have kindly given us access to their facilities to hold an event at what is a thoroughly interesting location lying at the crossroads of the Grand Union and Oxford canals.
